MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTION – INDIAN LAKE

Residents are only permitted to use water for non-essential purposes (i.e. – lawn watering, car washing, etc.) during dates that correspond to the last digit of their home address. Violators of this order may be subject to fines and penalties.

The reason for the need to issue water restrictions relate to a broken water main that runs under Indian Lake at the end of South Shore Road, connecting the east side to the west side of the lake. The water has been turned off in the broken main until a repair can be performed at the end of the summer season when a coordinated lake lowering can be performed in order to access the water main. The broken water main serves as an alternate or back-up source of water to either side of the lake in the event that higher than expected water consumption draws down the water tanks that primarily service one side or the other.

A special thank you to Estling Lake and Indian Lake for their willingness to work with the Township to perform a coordinated lowering at the end of the summer season so the requisite repairs can be performed.
